Night attractions for Ocean Park2016.04.04
Ocean Park (海洋公園) has appointed a new chief and will be introducing new programmes in the evening.
Current deputy CEO Matthias Li Sing-chung (李繩宗) will become the chief executive officer from 1 July.
People can get to the park faster later this year when the MTR South Island Line starts service. By that time, it will only take three minutes to travel from Admiralty to the park, Li pointed out.
In preparation for this, Li and his team plans to organise evening activities to attract people blowing off steam after work. He did not give details of what those activities will be, but suggested, “Can we attract people to come before they hit Lan Kwai Fong (蘭桂坊)?"
He added that the park will consider extending its opening hours if people like the new activities and events. Li said the park will continue to have new promotions and activities to get more local people to visit.
This month, the park will introduce a new Premium ‘SmartFun’ Annual Pass on top of the existing Gold Pass and Silver Pass. This follows the March offer of one free child ticket for every adult ticket purchased at 7-Eleven.
Li promised promotional offers and special events to celebrate the park’s 40th anniversary next year.
The park faces intense competition from other attractions in the region.
Its visitor numbers dropped 14 percent last year to 6.7 million after a plunge in mainland visitors.
