NEW plans to manage the Shaw Brothers studio complex have been submitted to the government. Now the office building, film store and dubbing room will be renovated and changed into an open-to-public venue to show film-related artefacts.
The complex, judged a Grade 1 historic building, was originally going to be more commercial, but now it will have a conservation aspect, in addition to the various shops.
The plan is to keep three dormitory buildings that both actors and directors once lived in. The Sound Stage 1, colour laboratory, production department, and some of the outer wall will be preserved to show different parts of the film production process.
