40m-deep pool opens in hotel

SWIMMING and diving are really great forms of exercise, enjoyed by many in Hong Kong. But one Italian (意大利的) hotel has jumped into the deep end by building a swimming pool that is 40 metres deep. It is equal to piling nine double-decker buses on top of each other!

Emanuele Boaretto designed this amazing swimming centre in the four-star Hotel Terme Millepini in Montegrotto Terme, Italy. The pool is called Y-40. But do not think of the pool as just cement and water. In fact it is not boring at all. There are many underwater caves to explore, and there is even a transparent underwater tunnel for those who do not want to get wet.

There are different platforms at different depths for swimmers and divers of various levels. That means even if you are just a beginner diver, you can still visit the Y-40. To explore the pool, visitors have to carry oxygen tanks. The water temperature is kept at a pleasant 32-34C too so even if you dive right to the bottom, you will not feel cold.
