聚首一堂談天氣

上周二，聯合國氣候峰會於紐約揭幕，美國總統奧巴馬和另外120多名國家元首均有參加。根據97年的《京都議定書》，從2008年至2012年期間，工業發達國家的溫室氣體排放量要減少5.2%。今次會議的目的就是讓各國繼《京都議定書》後達成新的協議，一同為環保出一分力。與此同時，全球60多萬民眾上街遊行，要求參加峰會的各國領導人針對氣候變化採取實際行動，保護地球。

Last Tuesday was the UN’s 2014 Climate Summit held in New York. Worldwide political leaders, titans of industry, and other members of the global elite joined the conference to discuss the best way to solve the problem of global warming. In accordance to the Kyoto Protocol, some industrialized countries agreed to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases from 2008 to 2012. Now, the countries are going to reach a new agreement. Meanwhile, 600,000 people marched in cities around the world to urge their leaders to act boldly to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
