Anti-child abuse poster for kids’ eyes Charity reaches out to children using technology

DO you think adults and children see things differently? A Spanish charity thinks so. It has developed a poster to help children who suffer from domestic abuse. It can only be fully seen by children.

Adults walking past the poster will only see the image of a normal child with an awareness message: “Sometimes, child abuse is only visible to the child suffering it.” But when the child sees it, the poster looks totally different. They see the image of a bruised victim of child abuse with a ‘secret’ message: “If somebody hurts you, phone us and we’ll help you.” It also provides the hotline for the charity ANAR Foundation.

Why do adults and children see different things on the same poster? It is because of special effects created using a lenticular printing technique. The poster used the technique to combine two images. Each of them can be seen exclusively by people of different heights. From a taller height, the adults can only see the image of a regular poster. But from the children’s perspective, the hidden message will show up.

The campaign was designed to give children confidence to call the helpline. The charity was worried that if both the adult and child could see the helpline, the adult may threaten the child not to seek help.
