HONG KONG primary students want the government to build a zoo. A poll was carried out from February to April with 3,300 pupils from more than 40 primary schools.

Over 90 percent of the students wish Hong Kong had a zoo so they could learn about the living habits of various animals.

About 12 percent of the students have never been to Ocean Park (海洋公園). The park is the closest to a zoo in Hong Kong. However, it charges HK$160 for a child and HK$320 for an adult.

Entry to the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens(香港動植物公園) in Central (中環) is free. It has about 70 land mammals.
