港大「富蠔計畫」 天然方法淨化海水

【兒童報訊】港人喜歡吃蠔，但原來蠔也有淨化海水的功能。香港大學生物科學學院將會推出「香港富蠔計畫」，通過公眾教育活動，以及在海港放置蠔殼及蠔來修復蠔礁生態，希望以天然方法改善水質，並吸引海洋生物居住在蠔殼、蠔礁，建立出整個海洋生態，提高海洋生物多樣性。

小知識
蠔對海洋的好處
蠔對海洋有不少好處，例如蠔會過濾食水中的浮游生物，達至淨化效果。此外，蠔礁亦能阻擋風浪，減少水土流失。

Hong Kong people love eating oysters, but we may not know that oysters have the ability to purify seawater. Hong Kong University's School of Biological Sciences will soon roll out a series of events about oysters. Through public educational activities as well as putting oyster shells and oysters in the harbour to help heal the ecology of oyster reefs, it is hoped that the water quality can be improved by natural means, and marine organisms will be attracted to live in the oyster shells and reefs. This aims to build the entire marine ecology and promote the diversity of marine organisms.
