AT an international exposition in China, Denmark’s (丹麥) Lego company announced that it would build a new Legoland in Shanghai (上海), and it will be the largest one in the world. Lego will put in US$550 million (HK$4.31 billion), and it is set to open in 2023.
The theme park will combine Lego blocks and Chinese culture; the target visitors are families with children aged two to 12. Children and families are expected to have a fun and creative time, while also providing interactive learning.
Apart from the park, the resort will also have a themed hotel, and a Chinese company will be investing in it. This company and Lego will jointly manage the resort. The total amount put into the project will be up to RMB 10 billion yuan (HK$11.2bn).
At present, there are eight Legolands. This new one will be localised and combine features from the Shanghai Lego shop.
