Wong Tai Sin to get recycling centre Nearby schools could organise field trip visits
2019.06.26WITH government support, a non-profit organisation has been setting up Community Green Stations (綠在區區) in various places around Hong Kong, which collect items to be recycled. The latest station will be in Po Kong Village Road Park, in Wong Tai Sin (黃大仙蒲崗村道公園).
With an area of 2,600 square metres, the new site will be built like a temporary building, eg, using containers as building blocks. It will be finished and running in 2022. As it is next to a primary school, the non-profit has talked to the principal, who thinks the station will help teach kids about conservation.
The government said the station is located next to two public housing estates and other schools, both primary and secondary. After finishing the building, the non-profit will have one to two lorries to make rounds twice a day to collect recyclables.
