Hongkongers warned of US-made sausages Product removed for health and safety reasons2019.06.12
IN late May, a certain kind of sausage was recalled in the US because the food product might have plastic inside. Soon after, the Centre for Food Safety (CFS, 食物安全中心) in Hong Kong warned locals not to eat Johnsonville’s Jalapeno Cheddar Smoked Sausages, which are also sold in stores here.
The CFS said they are following the food safety news in the US closely and have told Hong Kong stores to take the sausages off the shelves right away. The centre explained that about 200 boxes of the sausages have already entered Hong Kong, but the importer is recalling the sausages now.
The CFS said the investigation into the sausages is still going on, but people should definitely stop eating them for the time being. The centre added that if Hongkongers have any questions, they should contract the import merchant.
