Many HK kids have eye problems Results from children’s eye health survey

IN early January, a political party in Hong Kong announced results from a survey they did about children’s eye health by questioning parents. Over 40 percent of the parents said their kids need glasses because of vision problems. Among that group of kids, nearly 50 percent started to have eye problems from age four to six.
The survey was conducted by the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB, 民主建港協進聯盟) between August and December 2018. They questioned 1,027 parents with children aged three to 12.
In that group of parents, 41.2 percent said their kids have to wear glasses. Of those children, 74.8 percent have shortsightedness, with the largest group, 46.8 percent, beginning to have such problems between the age of four and six.
