Forgetful aeroplane pilot causes four-hour delay
2017.06.15A PILOT for Cathay Dragon’s KA-8348 flight – Hong Kong to Komatsu, Japan (日本小松市) – made his passengers four hours late because he accidentally left the flight map for Komatsu Airport back in Hong Kong. The aeroplane was flying over Taiwan when the pilot discovered his mistake and had to fly the plane back to Hong Kong to get the map.
Cathay Dragon confirmed that on 1 June, the KA-8348 flight left Hong Kong at 9.25am to go to Komatsu and had to come back to Hong Kong International Airport because it did not have the flight map for Komatsu Airport. The plane landed safely in Hong Kong and then arrived at its destination at 6.38pm. The plane had 155 passengers.
Both the Civil Aviation Department and Cathay Dragon are looking into the matter.
