紐約心形雕塑　支持種族共融

美國近來關注移民問題，藝術家索普在紐約時代廣場放置一件象徵愛與共融的雕塑，表達他對移民的看法。這件雕塑叫「我們都曾經是陌生人（We Were Strangers Once Too）」，指美國國民來自五湖四海，擁有多元文化。雕塑以33條長短不一的柱子製作而成，柱子印有粉紅色及紅色，拼成一個心形圖案，象徵大愛精神。柱子還標示紐約市內來自不同國家的移民數量，反映全市800多萬人口中，有300多萬是移民。

Recently, citizens of the Unites States have been concerned about immigration issues. Artist Jer Thorpe placed a sculpture that is a symbol of love and communion in New York’s Times Square to express his opinion on immigrants. This sculpture is called “We Were Strangers Once Too” and means US people came from different places and the country is multi-cultural. It is made up of thirty-three rods of different lengths and the rods were painted pink and red to create a heart-shaped pattern that represents love. The rods also indicated the number of immigrants in New York came from different countries, refl ecting there three million immigrants live in New York out of a total population of roughly eight million.
