IT is rare for two brothers to take part in the Olympics (奧運會). It is even rarer for the two to compete in the same event. And it is extremely rare that they finish first and second! But athletes Alistair Brownlee and his younger brother Jonny did exactly that!

The brothers from Britain (英國) competed in the triathlon. Alistair, born in 1988, was the champion in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro (里約熱內盧), Brazil (巴西) in August. Jonny, who is two years his junior, took the silver medal.

Earlier this month, Jonny became exhausted during a triathlon in Mexico (墨西哥). He almost fainted. Alistair came to his rescue and helped him walk through the remaining 700 metres or so.

It was not surprising then that another triathlete won the race. But the Brownlees trudged on till the end. At the finish line, Alistair pushed his younger brother across so that he could come in second. The elder brother secured third place. Had Jonny won in Mexico he would have been crowned world champion.
