Scientists have created transparent wood

YOU know that wood is not transparent, which means that you cannot see through it. But glass is transparent, which means that you can see through it. This is just common sense.

However, scientists in the US (美國) recently found out how to make wood transparent. What they did was boil it with some special chemicals. This takes away a particular material in the wood. Without it, the wood became transparent! It will also be stronger than glass when covered in plastic.

But scientists have only taken the first step. They can make a wood as large as 10cm by 10cm by 1cm transparent. But for wood larger than that, they are still doing experiments.
