TEACHERS across Hong Kong have been trying different ways to encourage their students to read. Some have found ways to raise a school library’s lending rates by 80 percent. Others use Augmented Reality (AR,虛擬實境) to introduce books.
Seventy-one teachers and students were given the Outstanding Performance Award through the Read and Share programme. For example, Ms Leung from a Tsuen Wan school shot videos where her students led the conversation on books. Under her efforts, the borrowing rate at her school’s library rose by 80 percent. Another example is Mr Lau who got his students to shoot oneminute videos introducing books and they were used with AR apps.
