IN 2018, a company in Paris (巴黎) unveiled a nearly-spherical eco-friendly water taxi. Now, they are testing it at the river Seine. Named ‘Sea Bubble’, the taxi has not been approved for business yet, but the developers hope to start running the service in Paris in the spring of 2020.
The white, hydrofoil-like craft runs on electricity. It can carry up to four passengers and can glide across the water at up to 30km per hour, with the added bonus of not having to go through traffic. Without noise, pollution or waves, it seems to be perfect for any crowded city.
CEO Anders Bringdal said that the taxi is cute and affordable, since boats of the same size would use up 50 Euros (HK$431) worth of fuel each hour, while the same time in the Sea Bubble will only cost three Euros.
