WHEN HK Electric generates electricity, it puts carbon in the air and that creates global warming. To help reduce this effect and educate us, it launched the
Happy Green Campaign (綠得開心計劃). HK Electric will spend HK$5 million per year on teaching the public about environmental protection, eg, holding the Green Energy Dreams Come True (GEDCT, 綠色能源夢成真) contest, and supporting community efforts to promote power saving, renewable energy and low-carbon living.
The power company will audit schools’ power usage so that they can use less energy. HKUGA College (港大同學會書院), a winner of the GEDCT, will send students to Yunnan (雲南) to learn about HK Electric’s wind farm.
