THE Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD, 土木工程拓展署) is planning to build a low wall alongside Tseung Kwan O Waterfront Park. It will protect the park against damage and flooding from typhoons.
The idea came after the park was severely damaged during Typhoon Mangkhut. The 1.1m-tall wall will be about 500m long and built along the coast. It will also have holes to drain the water.
The CEDD is exploring many ways to protect the park from future damage during typhoons. In addition to the wall, the department wants to use more stable materials for flooring and benches. The CEDD also plans to finish the wall by the end of 2019.
