AROUND 300 Santa Clauses went up a hill nearby a small town in the US and skied or snowboarded down for charity. Each Santa donated at least US$20 (HK$156) for education and recreation programmes in Newry, Maine (緬因州紐里), raising $4,000 together.
All of the Santas had a red outfit and a bushy white beard, and brought snow equipment. The sight of all 300 of them going downhill impressed the director of the event, Caroline Ochtera. She said, “There’s something about seeing 300 Santas ski down the mountain to support a great cause that puts people in the holiday spirit.”
This is the 19th edition of the yearly tradition and one of the Santas came from as far as Boston (波士頓). The donation drive was very successful, and the quota filled up quickly.
