LUMOS, a smart bicycle helmet, has been named one of the 50 best inventions of 2018 by Time Magazine. The Lumos helmet can be found in over 300 Apple Stores all over the world.
The helmet that can signal a turn was invented by Harvard (哈佛大學) student Ding Eu-wen (陳有運) and Harvard exchange student Jeff Chen Haoran (陳浩然), who is a graduate of HKUST (香港科技大學).
The pair came up with the idea of a smart helmet after a few close calls on the road while riding a bicycle after dark. Ding said that the company is working with Apple and the helmets can be connected to AppleWatches.
Time Magazine lists the 50 best inventions created each year, categorised by different fields. Other notable 2018 inventions include glow-in-the-dark jackets and high-tech wheelchairs.
