A CHINESE University of Hong Kong (香港中文大學) survey has found that 80 percent of primary children in Hong Kong do not eat enough vegetables and fruits, nor do they exercise enough, as recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO, 世界衛生組織).
According to the survey, which questioned 546 Primary Four students between February and April this year, 85 percent of them do not eat the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables, and 14 percent consume fried food and sugary drinks every day.
Moreover, 80 percent of those students do not exercise as much as the 60 minutes per day recommended by the WHO. Over 25 percent spend two or more hours playing videogames, chatting on social media or watching TV instead.
