Survey: mountains of food wasted Group urges food donations and promotes reduction 2017.10.30

A FOOD charity group conducted a survey and discovered that the average Hongkonger wastes about 0.37kg of food every day, which is higher than the 2015 government figure of 0.33kg. This means Hong Kong households together waste 2,400 tons of food per day.
Food Grace and Hong Kong Baptist University (香港浸會大學) surveyed 493 residents to understand better the food waste problem in Hong Kong. They found that the average household throws away 1.33kg of food waste every day. 264 people said their food waste was from cooking. Food Grace said that many Hongkongers do not see how serious the food waste problem is and have not tried to reduce waste at the source.
