THE twenty-ninth of April was the last day of the Science Experiment Laboratory: the 1st Hong Kong Primary Student Competition (科學實驗教室：第一屆全港小學生科學比賽). Primary students had competed in solving an everyday problem.
The winning team was from Yuen Long Government Primary School (元朗官立小學). They invented a food container that can heat up the food inside. The team took advantage of the heat created by putting lime and water together to cook a bowl of beef noodles
The team in second place, only in P4, was from SKH Yautong Kei Hin Primary School (聖公會油塘基顯小學). They created a reusable ice pack. The students used a sealed plastic bag with urea and water-based coolant in it.
The team in third place is St Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese Primary School (聖若瑟英文小學). They invented a device that gives out one teaspoon of oil at a time. Their idea came from a government warning about oil intake.
