TO help doctors and nurses diagnose patients quicker, three students from the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE, 香港專業教育學院) have invented Dr Cloud, a ‘cloud virtual smart doctor’ (雲端虛擬智能醫生) system.
This self-diagnostic tool recognises patients, guides them using automatic monitors in measuring their temperature, blood pressure, etc, and stores the data in the internet through cloud computing. Thus, patients can know their own health condition, and doctors and nurses can see all of the patients’ past medical data easily and triage them.
The three who invented the system are Hung Yau-yu (洪佑瑜), Lam Wai-kei (林韋錡) and Ng Man-yiu (吳敏瑤) – students of the IVE Higher Diploma in Data Science and Analytics (雲端系統及數據中心管理高級文憑) programme. Hung came up with the project idea partly because he once had a collapsed lung, but was misdiagnosed at the A&E hospital department and almost died.
