UNDER a flight training programme (衝上雲霄飛行計劃), students from SKH Holy Cross Primary School (聖公會聖十架小學) can learn about aviation from experienced professional pilots. The newly set-up cockpit mockup at the school sparked many students’ dreams of flying.
Primary 6 student Rain Lam Wing-tung (林穎潼) hopes to become a pilot when she grows up, though the road has obstacles.
To explain how aeroplanes work according to physics, she said: “Isaac Newton’s laws of motion say that something at rest will continue to stay still. But we only need to add a force, like an aeroplane engine, to make a thing move.”
As to why she wants to become a pilot, she said, “The views I see up in the air are more beautiful than when I’m on the ground. Perhaps if I become a pilot, the views I see would be even more beautiful.”
