THE Mass Transit Railway Corporation (MTRC, 香港鐵路公司) has confirmed that the long-awaited South Island Line will become operational by the end of the year. The company said that 99.2 percent of the overall construction has been completed. Due to the predicted rise in passengers at Admiralty, the MTRC has enlarged the station.
The seven-kilometre South Island Line starts at Admiralty with stops at Ocean Park, Wong Chuk Hang, Lei Tung and South Horizons. It will take four minutes to reach Ocean Park.
Admiralty will become an interchange station for four lines, but the company thinks the expanded station will manage, although evening peak hours will be a challenge.
