I BET you have never been asked to watch your favourite TV programme, or eat ice cream for homework! But these were exactly what teacher Jenny Thom at Bucklebury Church of England Primary School told her class of 10-and 11-year-old students to do over the weekend.
The list did not end there. Other recommended activities were ‘see friends’, ‘go on a bike ride’, ‘spend time with people you love’, ‘spend time with your favorite hobby’, and even ‘laugh until your tummy hurts’. The assignment was dubbed ‘the funnest ever’. This homework idea was posted on the web and went viral.
The teacher told the students in a letter, “If you feel you have to, you may revise, BUT you can only do this for a maximum of one hour total.” Why? Because “Mrs Thom is in charge of worrying – you don’t need to.” These fun assignments were meant to take the students’ minds off of an upcoming assessment exam week.
