1,200-year-old mummy found 2015.03.09
1556 1556

THERE are many ancient statues in Asian (亞洲的) countries like China and Thailand (泰國). But one recently discovered Buddha (佛) statue was very different – the body of a monk was found inside!

Of course the monk was not alive; it was the mummy of an ancient monk who lived in China about 1,200 years ago. Researchers in the Netherlands (荷蘭) used a CAT scan to examine the mummified remains. What shocked them most was that his internal organs were all gone! Researchers did not know how this happened, but they are quite sure that the body belonged to a monk called Liuquan (柳泉) who had lived during the Sung (宋) Dynasty.
