FIVE-year-old Alex Nash from Cornwall (康和郡), UK (英國), is just an ordinary boy doing ordinary things. He was invited to a birthday party for his classmate, Charlie Lawrence. But due to a clash with a family gathering, his parents decided at the last minute that he would not attend the party. They said they had thought of phoning the hosts to tell them about the no-show, but were too busy to do so; they could not find the phone number anyway.

Everything seemed just normal until Alex received a letter from Charlie’s parents. Inside was an invoice for 15.95 pounds (HK$190)! Alex’s parents said they were shocked and very angry at such a rude act. They discussed the issue with Charlie’s parents. Charlie’s parents insisted that Alex should pay the bill because it was stated on the invitation card that each participant needed to pay that amount, and Alex had promised to come. They also said that their phone number was printed on the invitation. They have now threatened to sue Alex’s parents if they refuse to pay!
