IT is a great honour and achievement to be accepted into one of the eight Ivy League (長春藤聯盟) universities in the US (美國). The League is a loosely-linked group of private universities of the highest quality.
You can imagine how happy Ronald Nelson was when he was notified that all of the eight universities accepted him! So which one did he choose? He turned them all down! He finally chose another one: the University of Alabama (阿拉巴馬大學).
Ronald’s decision might seem irrational to some people. But he had his reasons. He said he would have racked up too many debts if he studied at any of the Ivy League universities. The University of Alabama offered several scholarships and financial assistance plans to him, which he thought would help him pursue his medical studies.
