WHAT is your favourite subject?” This question may be a thing of the past soon, at least in the Nordic (北歐的) country of Finland (芬蘭)! This country is well-known for its education system that cherishes the freedom and uniqueness of each student. Now they will do a big experiment from August 2016. Schools will start teaching by topics rather than by subjects.
What it means is roughly this: students will not learn Mathematics, English, History and Science in separate lessons any more. Instead, they will be given a topic so that all the subjects can be taught and learnt at the same time. For example, if the topic is about rabbits, they may learn English words related to the animal, its biology, different cultures concerning rabbits, and the maths behind how they reproduce!
